My 2021 New Year’s Goals!

Hello, 2021!  I’d like to welcome the NEW YEAR with NEW GOALS!!

  1. Exercise every day
  2. Write EVERY day (no word count limit!)
  3. Declutter the attic
  4. Learn Calligraphy
  5. Stick to my grocery budget EVERY month
  6. Read through the bible with our family
  7. Read a book every week
  8. Intentionally check in with my kids and spouse every day for ten minutes
  9. Set a new goal each month

Do you write out your goals?

Do you like to write New Year’s Goals? I sure do! I also enjoy reading about other people’s goals, their goal writing process and how they evaluate their goals. One of my favorite articles on goal writing/reflection is Chris Guillebeau’s “How To Conduct Your Own Year End Review”, which you can find here.

Writing out my goals

If you asked me when I started making New Year’s goals, I couldn’t tell you.In the past, I have written them down, but usually lost them (probably before January was even over) and definitely never did a year end review. Last year was different, though. I started a blog and listed out my new year’s goals. I had fun pursuing them in the beginning and then…April hit. No, I’m not talking about the pandemic, although that did add to the problem. We moved into our new home in April. And my whole life became focused on the move. In May, I started a master’s program. Then, our family home school restarted at the beginning of August. Our home school coop restarted in mid-August and, I volunteered to teach a class for our coop (because no one else wanted to do it ;). Then, it was the end of the year.

Finally, the semester ended and I was able to sleep and breathe. Once I was refreshed, I was able to reflect. And, thankfully, I had those 2020 goals saved out in internet space, so I didn’t have to try and hunt them up after a move. It was wonderful to see that I actually did make progress on my goals during 2020 and even added new ones along the way. (You can read more about that here.) I realized how helpful the whole process had been for me and decided to repeat it for this year.

What about you? Do you have goals for 2021? Have you written them down? Wanna share them with me? I’d love to read yours. Let’s talk in the comments….
